- Daytime running lights

Why this is correct
New York law requires headlights whenever windshield wipers are in use for rain, snow or sleet ('wipers on, lights on'). Daytime running lights do not count — they usually illuminate only the front and don't activate taillights. Use low beam in heavy precipitation; high beams reflect off the water droplets and reduce visibility.
