Why this is correct
New York's Move Over Law (VTL §1144-a) requires drivers to slow on every road and — on multi-lane highways, parkways, and interstates — to move one lane away from a stopped emergency, hazard, or maintenance vehicle displaying flashing lights (red, blue, amber, or green). Violations carry fines and two license points. The law protects tow operators and utility workers as well as first responders.
